Terms of Service
Awaiting legal review. This is a working policy published so that HEC membership can describe the terms it operates under. It has not yet been reviewed by counsel, and it will be replaced by a reviewed version. If anything here conflicts with a signed agreement between you and HEC, the signed agreement governs.
1. Who these terms are between
These terms are between you and Hollywood Expansion Corporation (“HEC”, “we”, “us”). They apply to your use of this website and to any HEC membership you create on it.
2. Membership accounts
A free HEC membership requires your name, an email address and a password. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for activity that takes place under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been used without your permission.
You may close your account at any time by contacting us.
3. Paid memberships and services
HEC publishes prices for filmmaker services and professional memberships on the Join HEC page. HEC has not yet connected a payment provider. Selecting a plan records a request; it is not a purchase, it does not create a subscription, and no card details are collected or stored. No amount becomes payable until HEC has separately notified you, a payment method has been provided by you, and you have confirmed the arrangement.
Prices, billing periods and package contents shown on the site may change. The terms that apply to any paid arrangement are the ones in force when that arrangement is confirmed.
4. What HEC membership does and does not promise
A membership gives access to the features described for it. It does not promise employment, casting, financing, distribution, product placement, brand integration or selection for any production. Where the site uses words such as “consideration”, “matching”, “discoverable” or “opportunities”, those words are meant literally.
5. Content you provide
You keep ownership of the project information, professional profile and other material you submit. You grant HEC permission to store and use that material for the purpose of operating the service you asked for — for example, making a vendor profile discoverable to productions. You are responsible for having the right to submit what you submit.
6. Acceptable use
Do not use this site to break the law, to impersonate another person or business, to submit material you do not have the rights to, or to interfere with the operation or security of the service.
7. HEC content
Films, trailers, artwork, copy, branding and the HEC name are owned by HEC or its licensors. You may view them on this site. You may not republish, redistribute or create derivative works from them without written permission.
8. Availability
We aim to keep the site available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Features described here may change, and parts of the platform are still in development.
9. Ending access
We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will explain why.
10. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited. Subject to that, HEC is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the site.
11. Changes to these terms
We will update the date at the top of this page when these terms change. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
